It didn’t take long for CNN to express outrage and rush to the defense of the NBC reporter, Peter Alexander, that President Trump called “terrible” in a contentious exchange this morning.
King appears to have lost all manner of decorum and called Trump’s attack on Alexander “b*llshit”
I sat in that briefing room for ten years. It was a perfectly valid question, and what the President did to Peter Alexander was reprehensible. The American people are looking for answers. They do want hope. They do want support, Mr. President. That was a very fair question.
This is a Trump trademark. It was striking that this came, forgive me, this b*llshit attack, on fake news came just moments after the Secretary of State said that the American people needed to be careful about where they get their information and go to a source they can trust.
I get that there at times disagreements; there are, at times, tension between politicians and reporters. That was a one hundred percent legitimate questions with no hype, no shape, no bias. He just wanted to attack.
This was the exchange being discussed.
Is it possible that your impulse to put a positive spin on things may be giving Americans a false sense of hope and misrepresenting preparedness right now?
No I don’ think so….Such a lovely question. Look, i agree with the doctor with what he said. it may work and it may not work. I feel good about it. that’s all it is, just a feeling….it’s been out there for over 20 years…. I sure the hell think we ought to give it a try.
What do you see Americans who are watching you right now that are scared though I guess. Nearly 200 dead. 14,000 who are sick. Millions as you witnessed who are scared right now. What do you say to Americans who are watching you right now who are scared?
I say that you are a terrible reporter. I think that’s a very nasty question, and I think it’s a very bad signal that you’re putting out to the American people.
