Some conservatives are upset at a new CNN report that refers to a baby who survives an abortion as “a fetus that was born.”
DailyCaller reports a CNN report on pro-life legislation described a baby who survived an abortion as a “fetus that was born.”
Senators vote Tuesday on legislation that aims to protect babies who survive botched abortions and are born alive as well as legislation that would make abortion illegal after 20 weeks when the unborn baby can feel pain: the Pain-Capable Unborn Child Protection Act and the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act.
CNN covered the legislation in the Tuesday report: “Senate to vote on two abortion restriction bills,” an article in which CNN’s Caroline Kelly described a baby who survived an abortion as a “fetus that was born.”
CNN did not respond to the Daily Caller News Foundation’s request for comment about what a “fetus that was born” means
“The second bill to be considered Tuesday is the Born-Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act, sponsored by Republican Sen. Ben Sasse of Nebraska, that would require abortion providers to work to ‘preserve the life and health’ of a fetus that was born following an attempted abortion as they would for a newborn baby, or face up to five years in prison,” Kelly wrote.

even our pro-choice sisters and brothers should call this out as beyond the pale pic.twitter.com/DFvuoXMQaV

This is absolute madness. A baby who survives an abortion is not a "fetus that was born." It's a baby! It's a human! Of course medical practitioners should do everything in their power to save the child, why is this even a debate? https://t.co/2To1uchxVP

"A fetus that was born" is now politically correct language for "baby." Baby is too politically loaded and implies that fetuses might in fact be a form of human life worthy of protection. https://t.co/YpXBXMZkVO
