Chinese diplomats tell Biden officials the U.S. “does not have the qualification to say that it wants to speak to China from a position of strength”

During their first key exchange in Alaska, Biden Secretary of State Antony Blinken and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan had a tense exchange with Chinese diplomats.

Chinese officials told Biden’s administration that the U.S. “does not have the qualification to say that it wants to speak to China from a position of strength” and that “whether judged by population scale or the trend of the world, the Western world does not represent the global public opinion.”

Mike Pompeo tweeted after the meeting “Strength deters bad guys. Weakness begets war.”
