The Chicago Teacher Union deleted a tweet that was the subject of much mockery on Twitter.
The tweet claimed “The push to reopen schools is rooted in sexism, racism and misogyny.”
Here is a screenshot of the tweet before it was deleted.
In a tweet that appeared to reference their mocked tweet, the Chicago Teacher’s Union wrote:
Fair enough. Complex issue. Requires nuance. And much more discussion. More important, the people the decision affects deserve more. So we’ll continue give them that.
Appreciate the feedback of those truly in the struggle.
Here is some of the backlash the Chicago Teacher’s Union received.
If a grocery store doesn't reopen families can take their money elsewhere
If a school doesn't reopen families should similarly be able to take their children's education dollars elsewhere.

The students suffer the most.
This union represents the staff at these schools. This is how those teachers truly feel.
They can say it was a mistake to post it, but deep down, this is how they truly feel.
Shame they deleted it. pic.twitter.com/DAa1ezcToI
