“Time’s Up,” an organization that was created to fight against sexual harassment is under fire for spending a large percentage of their donations on executive salaries and overhead and a much smaller amount on the actual legal fund to help victims.
The organization has been supported by various “A list” actors including Reese Witherspoon of “Legally Blonde,” Brie Larson of “Captain Marvel” and Chuck Schumer’s daughter, Amy Schumer.
One “Time’s up” rally featured Kamala Harris and disgraced actor Jussie Smollett.
According to the report from the NY Post “the organization, which is comprised of the Time’s Up Foundation and Time’s Up Now Inc., raised $3,670,219 in 2018, its founding year, but spent $1,407,032 on salaries and only $312,001 on the Time’s Up Legal Defense Fund for people who have experienced sexual harassment.”
While Charity watchdog group Charity navigator recommends non-profits spend 75% on their mission and 25% on administration, Time’s up spends a whopping 38% on salaries alone, making it highly inefficient in it’s giving mission.
In addition the organization spent $157,155 on “conferences” that were “designed to build community and spark critical conversations about gender equity” according to tax filings. One took place in the trendy Ojai Valley Inn luxury resort and spa.
