Buttigieg claims “there is racism physically built into some of our highways”

In a new statement being mocked by conservatives, Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said during a recent interview with theGrio “there is racism physically built into some of our highways.”

“There is racism physically built into some of our highways, and that’s why the jobs plan has specifically committed to reconnect some of the communities that were divided by these dollars,” Buttigieg told April Ryan.

“Well, if you’re in Washington, I’m told that the history of that highway is one that was built at the expense of communities of color in the D.C. area,” he said. “There are stories, and I think Philadelphia and Pittsburgh [and] in New York, Robert Moses famously saw through the construction of a lot of highways,” he added.

Tricia Flanagan tweeted:

Pete Buttigieg now says our American highways are racist.

If we don’t push back against this Biden lunacy now, we’re done.

Chad Felix Greene tweeted:

This might be the absolute, most stupid thing I have ever heard in my 38 years of life on this very planet of Earth.
