In a series of tweets on Friday, Democrat Senator and 2020 presidential candidate Elizabeth Warren accused President Trump of having colluded with Russia during the 2016 campaign, and called for Congress to begin the impeachment process.
Despite the Mueller report having vindicated President Trump of collusion and obstruction allegations, Warren said the “correct process” is now the impeachment of Trump.
Warren went on to state that “the House should initiate impeachment proceedings against the President of the United States.”
Mueller put the next step in the hands of Congress: “Congress has authority to prohibit a President’s corrupt use of his authority in order to protect the integrity of the administration of justice.” The correct process for exercising that authority is impeachment.

The severity of this misconduct demands that elected officials in both parties set aside political considerations and do their constitutional duty. That means the House should initiate impeachment proceedings against the President of the United States.

Warren seems to have taken something entirely different away from the Mueller report, which, despite having cleared Trump of the allegations against him, has been cited by a number of Democrats in their calls to begin the impeachment process.
For Senator Warren, who is struggling to stand out in an already-crowded pool of potential Democrat presidential candidates, with the likelihood of former Vice President Joe Biden announcing a campaign, Friday’s call to impeach appears to be a publicity stunt.
