In a shocking display on Wednesday in DC, an unidentified man lit himself on fire in an area known as “President’s Park South,” which is less than a half-mile away from the White House.
While details remain unclear, the act of self-immolation was filmed horrified onlookers, who captured the event, including police efforts to extinguish the burning man, who authorities later stated suffered “life threatening injuries.”
However, for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, the tragic display was seen as more of an inconvenience than anything, as it forced the cancellation of a planned rally for transgender rights.

The DCCC took to social media, to bemoan the burning man as having been an attempt to thwart the rally, which the group said was “beyond the pale.”
