BREAKING VIDEO: Dem Rep. Hank Johnson arrested by Capitol police and taken into custody

Thursday, Democrat Rep. Hank Johnson was arrested during a protest at the Capitol.

According to Capitol Police the group was demonstrating without a permit and blocking a door.

Johnson wrote on Twitter ” I was arrested today protesting against Senate inaction on voting rights legislation & filibuster reform. In the spirit of my dear friend and mentor – the late Congressman John Lewis – I was getting in #goodtrouble”

Tia Mitchelll of AJT tweeted as the event was taking place. She wrote “.
@RepHankJohnson is speaking now at a voting rights rally outside the US Supreme Court. Next, he will lead the group, which includes voting activists and members of Black fraternities, inside one of the Senate office buildings.”

“They have now marched to the Hart building but are still outside.”

Capitol Police say @RepHankJohnson and the others are demonstrating without a permit and blocking the door and will be arrested”

“Arrests have begun. Rep. Johnson is among 9 people being taken into custody. It appears he is the only elected official”
