On Thursday, President Trump announced his plans to award the Presidential Medal of Freedom to racing legend Roger Penske, which he revealed during a meeting with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.
Trump said Penske is “very deserving” of the award, noting, “He’s a great gentleman, I’ve known him a long time.”

The Presidential Medal of Freedom is the country’s highest civilian honor, awarded for “especially meritorious contribution to the security or national interests of the United States, or world peace, or cultural or other significant public or private endeavors.”
