BREAKING: Trump Threatens “Up to 10 Years in Prison” for Monument and Statue Vandals

Early Tuesday morning, President Trump tweeted:

I have authorized the Federal Government to arrest anyone who vandalizes or destroys any monument, statue or other such Federal property in the U.S. with up to 10 years in prison, per the Veteran’s Memorial Preservation Act, or such other laws that may be pertinent…..

…..This action is taken effective immediately, but may also be used retroactively for destruction or vandalism already caused. There will be no exceptions!

Per Today, Overnight police stepped in as protesters attempted to tear down a statue of Andrew Jackson near the White House, and similar scenes have taken place across the country in recent weeks.

Meanwhile, a statue of Theodore Roosevelt near the Museum of Natural History in New York will soon be coming down. NBC’s Garrett Haake reports for TODAY from Lafayette Park in Washington, D.C.
