BREAKING: Trump interested in appointing special counsel to probe election and Hunter Biden

According to a new report from the Wall Street Journal, President Trump “has expressed interest” in pursuing the appointment of a special counsel to investigate the 2020 election as well as issues regarding Hunter Biden.

According to an un-named WSJ source, White House chief of staff Mark Meadows has said Trump is interested in pursuing a special counsel to investigate his claims of election fraud “and wants to move quickly.”

In addition, frustration over Attorney General Barr’s handling of investigations regarding the Biden family is leading to discussions about hiring a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden.

Earlier this week, 27 House Republicans including Reps. Lance Gooden (TX), Paul Gosar (AZ), Louie Gohmert (TZ) , Thomas Massie (KY) and Ted Budd (NC) have signed a letter calling for Trump to direct Attorney General William Barr to appoint a special counsel to investigate the election.

The letter says “The Department of Justice has been asked on multiple occasions to launch an investigation into this matter, but inaction from the department along with comments made by the attorney general indicate a lack of willingness to investigate the irregularities your campaign and other elected officials across the nation have alleged.”

Rep. Lance Gooden wrote Wednesday morning:

Last week, I asked that @realDonaldTrump instruct the Attorney General to appoint a Special Counsel to investigate election irregularities.

Now twenty-six Republican colleagues have joined me in calling for an independent investigation to restore faith in our elections!

Thursday, Arkansas Senator Tom Cotton tweeted “Should Joe Biden become president, all of the prosecutors investigating Hunter Biden will be fired. There’s a clear conflict of interest here–one that demands a special counsel.”

Cotton also tweeted an appearance he had on Fox News where he said “I know the Biden campaign released details of a tax fraud investigation in Wilmington. I think that was just to show maybe the least damaging part of the investigation.”

“There’s allegations of securities fraud and money laundering related to Hunter Biden’s Chinese businesses, a crooked hospital deal with Jim Biden, Joe Biden’s brother, out in western Pennsylvania. These investigations span multiple jurisdictions,” Cotton continued “those prosecutors are in line to be fired next month. If there were ever circumstances that create a conflict of interest and called for a special counsel, I think those circumstances are present here.”

“Look, the Biden family has been trading on Joe Biden’s public office for 50 years,” Cotton added “Valerie Biden Owens, his sister, and Jim Biden, his brother, and Hunter Biden his son. Do we really think that that will change if Joe Biden becomes president, the highest office in the land?”
