On Wednesday, as he spoke at the National Peace Officers’ Memorial Service, President Trump doubled down on his calls for capital punishment for anyone convicted of murdering US police officers.
President Trump has previously suggested the death penalty for cop killers in 2016 and 2018.
“The ambushes and attacks on our police must end, and they must end right now,” said Trump. “We believe that criminals who murder police officers should immediately, but with trial, get the death penalty.”
Trump continued, “The trial should go fast, it’s got to be fair, but it’s got to go fast.”
During his speech, the president welcomed the brother of slain officer Ronil Singh, who was killed by an illegal alien recently, who Trump called “a vicious killer that could have been kept out with border security, with the wall.”
