On Wednesday, shocked and outraged Republicans voiced their displeasure with GOP Senator Richard Burr, Senate Intelligence Committee chairman, for his decision to subpoena Donald Trump Jr. regarding the now-closed Russian investigation.
Burr’s decision came in direct contrast to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell’s recent affirmation that the case had been officially closed, prompting immediate condemnation from Republicans, including House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy and Senator Rand Paul.
In a tweet on Wednesday, McCarthy denounced the subpoena, noting that “Endless investigations” will not affect the outcome of the Mueller report, which ultimately found no collusion, adding, “It’s time to move on.”
.@DonaldJTrumpJr has already spent dozens of hours testifying in front of Congressional committees. Endless investigations—by either party—won’t change the fact that there was NO collusion. It’s time to move on. It’s time to focus on ISSUES, not investigations. https://t.co/fbFH5uMLUz

Senator Rand Paul also took to social media to quip that Burr apparently “didn’t get the memo from [Mitch McConnell] that this case was closed…”
Apparently the Republican chair of the Senate Intel Committee didn’t get the memo from the Majority Leader that this case was closed… https://t.co/jvV5PIX266
