BREAKING: Rachel Maddow Falls To Fifth In July Ratings

Rachel Maddow, who was at one time riding a ratings high off the back of the Trump-Russia collusion theory, has now dropped to fifth place behind 4 Fox News shows.

Maddow’s ratings started dropping dramatically starting from the release of the Mueller report results, showing no evidence of Russian collusion.

Last month, President Trump tweeted about the success of Fox News compared to CNN and MSNBC.

Fox News had the four highest rated cable news programs for the month of July, while MSNBC’s Rachel Maddow continued to see her ratings stagnate.

“The Rachel Maddow Show” fell to fifth it total viewers this month, behind Fox News’ “Hannity,” “Tucker Carlson Tonight” and “The Five,” according to Nielsen Media Research.

Maddow averaged 2,487,000 per night this month, a slight improvement from the month of June in which she averaged 2,450,000. However, Maddow fell from third to fifth as all of Fox News’ cable programs saw their ratings grow at a higher rate. It was the first time since October 2018 that Maddow’s show fell out of the top three.

Maddow also fell to fifth in the crucial 25-54 age demographics, averaging 384,000 viewers. Hannity and Carlson also finished first and second in that category, averaging 527,000 and 519,000 viewers respectively.

Fox News as a whole finished first in total day ratings for the month of July, averaging 1,378,000 total viewers, while CNN and MSNBC both saw their total day ratings decline to 557,000, and 852,000 total viewers, respectively.

Maddow has seen her ratings decline dramatically in the months since the release of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report, which did not find evidence that President Donald Trump or members of his campaign colluded with the Russian government during the 2016 election.

Ahead of the report’s release, Maddow had been one of the biggest promoters of the Russian collusion narrative, having previously accused Trump of “serving the interests of another country.”
