Social media site Parler is suing Amazon Web Services after being force offline by losing their web hosting services.
The 18 page filing claims Amazon’s decision to take Parler offline was politically motivated and meant to protect Twitter, an Amazon client from competition.
The lawsuit reads “AWS’s decision to effectively terminate Parler’s account is apparently motivated by political animus.”
It continues “It is also apparently designed to reduce competition in the microblogging services market to the benefit of Twitter.”
Per the NY Post “the lawsuit suggests Amazon Web Services pulled the plug on Parler to save Twitter from a growing competitor weeks after the two companies signed a deal that would see AWS support the delivery of “millions of daily tweets.”
After Parler was removed from the #1 spot in the top free apps chart, Twitter founder Jack Dorsey tweeted a screenshot and “heart” emoji.
