BREAKING: Mississippi calls for Roe vs. Wade to be overturned, SCOTUS likely to hear oral arguments in November

Thursday, Reuters reporter Lawrence Hurley reported that Mississippi is explicitly calling for landmark abortion case Roe. vs. Wade to be overturned.

Hurley wrote “NEW: In major abortion case at the Supreme Court, Mississippi is explicitly asking in court papers filed today for the justices to overturn landmark Roe v. Wade ruling”

He added in follow up tweets:

Mississippi, in defending its 15 week abortion ban, says that Roe v. Wade and the later Casey ruling from 1992 both should be overturned so that states can have more leeway to ban abortion as they see fit. Full brief:

The Supreme Court, which now has a 6-3 conservative majority, is likely to hear oral arguments in November and issue a ruling next June.

Tuesday, Texas Governor Greg Abbott signed HB1280, declaring “the moment Roe v. Wade is overturned abortions will be outlawed in Texas.”

During the signing ceremony, Abbott said “The most precious freedom of all is life itself. Our creator endowed us with the right to life. And yet, millions of children lose their lives every year before they were even born.”
