On Friday, congresswoman Liz Cheney and Ilhan Omar clashed on social media in a heated exchange of words, during which Omar accused Cheney of “helping Vladimir Putin,” drawing a fiery response from her Republican colleague.
Omar’s remarks came in response to Cheney’s earlier condemnation of Democrats, who she said were “undermining our democracy and helping Vladimir Putin,” which Omar described as “an impressive lie, even for the Cheney family.”
🤦🏽♀️ Liz Cheney is accusing a committee investigating Russian election interference of…helping Vladimir Putin.
This is an impressive lie even for the Cheney family. https://t.co/c9yekH6x5o

Without missing a beat, Cheney issued a scathing reply, rebuking Omar as “an anti-Semitic socialist who slanders US troops and carries water for Hamas and Maduro.”

Since her election to Congress in the 2018 midterms, Rep. Omar has maintained a highly controversial status, and has elicited bipartisan backlash from both Republicans and her own Democrat colleagues for a series of remarks deemed anti-Semitic.
