Joy Behar will be taking time off “the view” due to coronavirus fears.
In addition, Behar called for President Trump to resign to let Mike Pence take over.
WashingtonExaminer reports Joy Behar is taking time off from hosting ABC’s The View over concerns for her health amid the outbreak of the coronavirus.
Behar’s announcement is set to air on Friday in a pretaped episode of the news and commentary show that she co-hosts with Whoopi Goldberg, Meghan McCain, and Sunny Hostin, according to Variety. No other host is planning on taking time off. The show will be filmed without a live audience.
None of the hosts of the show nor any staff workers have been confirmed to have contracted the coronavirus, but Behar has decided to stay home at the urging of her daughter. At 77 years old, Behar is in an age group particularly vulnerable to the virus.
“I’m in a higher-risk group because of my age, but I’m perfectly healthy,” Behar said while announcing her break. “I don’t look my age, but I’m actually up there. The number makes me dizzy.”
Behar praised Vice President Mike Pence’s handling of the federal government’s response to the coronavirus outbreak on Thursday’s show. Behar went as far as to suggest President Trump should resign and let Pence take over as commander in chief.
“You know, don’t you think that this is a good time for [Trump] to resign?” she asked. “I mean, Pence has been shown to be rather capable, I believe.”
“I feel a little more confident with Pence and [National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases Director Anthony] Fauci at the helm. I do not feel any confidence with this guy,” Behar added, referring to Trump.
