BREAKING: J. Lo Releases Statement, Confirms Half-Time Had Anti-Trump Message

Performer Jennifer Lopez has released a statement and confirmed suspicions that her half time show with Shakira was supposed to include a anti-Trump message.

UPDATE – Perhaps out of concern of backlash from Trump supporters, Lopez later removed the references to “walls” and “cages” in her instagram statement.

Per NBC, J. Lo. wrote on Instagram:

“All I want my girls, the little girls on stage with me and all over the world to know is how to use their voices and be proud of everything they are,” Lopez said in the caption. “Other people can try to build walls, keep us out or put us in cages. We are proud to recognize that all of us together are what makes this beautiful country truly great.”

(The line mentioning “walls” and “cages” appears to have since been removed.)

Today reports Jennifer Lopez posted a powerful statement about her Super Bowl 54 halftime performance to her Instagram on Monday night.

Lopez, who performed Sunday night with Shakira, shared a video of the moments just before they went onstage.

“All I want my girls, the little girls on stage with me and all over the world to know is how to use their voices and be proud of everything they are,” Lopez said in the caption. “Other people can try to build walls, keep us out or put us in cages. We are proud to recognize that all of us together are what makes this beautiful country truly great.” (The line mentioning “walls” and “cages” appears to have since been removed.)

The video shows Lopez getting ready for the show and leading her team in a prayer before taking the stage. The edited clip ends as Lopez makes her entrance at the beginning of her set.

Many tweets on Twitter had speculated Lopez was trying to make an Anti-Trump message.

Per TCO, here are some of the many tweets.

At the bottom is the video and you can judge for yourself.

halftime show saw @JLo with the Puerto Rican Flag whilst singing Born in the USA was a big F*ck [email protected] to @realDonaldTrump as Puerto Rico is America

I think this was one of the best parts of the show, the kids in cages, the American & Puerto Rican flags together, JLo singing Born in the USA & the lights in back that looked like a fence! Kuddos to Pepsi!

JLO with the Puerto Rican flag, brown kids in cages, singing in spanish…. trolling perfection

Per TCO, March for Life President Jeanne F. Mancini was just one of many who felt the Super Bowl halftime show featuring J.Lo and Shakira was way too raunchy for what was supposed to be a “family friendly” event.

J. Lo made her appearance sliding down a stripper pole, and the performance featured lots of skimpy outfits, overtly sexual booty shaking, and tight studded leather outfits.

. Ugh. We can’t have something that little kids can watch? Embarrassing for everyone I’m with- looking away, etc. Friends son got distracted by smart dad so he wouldn’t see it. 🙁 We can do better!

Many agreed.

Everything about this halftime show was overtly sexual and perverse. It will be celebrated as the best halftime show yet. Gross.

Agreed! The half time show keeps getting weirder every year.
We need a solid country western or rockandroll band, something patriotic

Our society is really crumbling.

Christian leader Franklin Graham has issued a statement expressing his disappointment in the Super Bowl halftime show.

Graham writes:

I don’t expect the world to act like the church, but our country has had a sense of moral decency on prime time television in order to protect children.

We see that disappearing before our eyes. It was demonstrated tonight in the Pepsi Super Bowl Halftime Show—with millions of children watching.

This exhibition was Pepsi showing young girls that sexual exploitation of women is okay. With the exploitation of women on the rise worldwide, instead of lowering the standard, we as a society should be raising it.

I’m disappointed in Pepsi and the NFL.
