BREAKING: House to move forward with vote to strip Greene of her committee assignments

Democrat House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer tweeted Wednesday morning “I spoke to Leader McCarthy this morning, and it is clear there is no alternative to holding a Floor vote on the resolution to remove Rep. Greene from her committee assignments.”

“The Rules Committee will meet this afternoon, and the House will vote on the resolution tomorrow,” he added.

Some Republicans have expressed support for condemning Greene. Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnel said in a statement Monday that “looney lies and conspiracy theories” are a “cancer for the Republican Party.”

Utah Senator Mitt Romney said the GOP party “should have nothing to do with Marjorie Taylor Greene.”

“It’s important for us to separate ourselves from the people that are in the wacky weeds, and if we don’t, then our opposition tries to brand us with their image and with their point of view,” he added.

Meanwhile, House Republicans have called for Democratic lawmaker Ilhan Omar’s removal from her committee posts “in light of conduct she has exhibited”

In addition, GOP leaders are also meeting on Wednesday to debate Rep. Liz Cheney’s House leadership role after she chose to be one of the 10 Republican lawmakers to  vote to impeach former president Trump.
