According to new reports, House Democrats are expected to hold a vote next week, in an effort to hold US Attorney General William Barr in contempt of Congress for refusing to comply with a subpoena.
“The resolution will authorize the Judiciary Committee to pursue civil action to seek enforcement of its subpoenas in federal court,” said Democrat Steny Hoyer.
“It also authorizes House Committees that have issued subpoenas as part of their oversight and investigation responsibilities to seek civil enforcement of those subpoenas when they are ignored,” added Hoyer.
Democrats have repeatedly threatened to hold Barr in contempt, as they continue to demand his testimony regarding the Mueller report’s conclusion, which ultimately cleared President Trump of all wrongdoing.
From The Hill:
The House vote is expected to be June 11, according to multiple Democratic sources.
