BREAKING: Herschel Walker files to run for Senate in Georgia

According to a new report from CNN “Herschel Walker, the former University of Georgia football star, filed paperwork with the Federal Election Commission on Tuesday to run for Senate in Georgia, months after former President Donald Trump publicly encouraged his longtime friend to campaign for the key seat.’

Randy Evans, a Georgia lawyer and former US ambassador to Luxembourg in the Trump administration said “This could be the most important filing for the most important race in the country.”

“It is the signal Georgia Republicans have been waiting on and the one the Democratic Senatorial Committee feared most,” he continued.

“Herschel Walker understands the predicament our country is now in and the importance of those who love this country to step forward and do what it takes to save it,” Evans added.

In June, appearing as a guest on the Clay Travis and Buck Sexton Show, former President Trump said Walker told him he plans to challenge Democrat Senator Raphael Warnock for Georgia Senate.

“He told me he’s going to,” Trump said in a scoop. “I think he will. I had dinner with him a week ago. He’s a great guy, he’s a patriot, and he’s a very loyal person. They love him in Georgia. He was the greatest running back in the history of the state. He is one of the best in the history of the country.”

Trump also speculated Walker, who spoke at the 2020 GOP convention, will win.

“I think he’d win. I think it would be very, very hard to beat Herschel. Beating him would be very tough. And I think he’s going to run,” Trump said.
