According to a new report from Politico, Vice President Harris is finally set to visit the southern border.
According to the report the Vice President “will make a stop in El Paso, Texas on Friday, according to sources familiar with the trip.”
“She is expected to be accompanied by Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas,” the report adds.
The timing may lead to speculation that former President Trump’s visit may have been a factor.
“Harris’ trip comes just days before former President Donald Trump is set to visit the border,” Politico writes.
“Trump will be joined on that trip by Texas GOP Gov. Greg Abbott and a group of House Republicans.”
Harris has been in charge of the border crisis since February. This will be her first visit since.
Earlier this month, Harris reacted awkwardly when confronted by Lester Holt about why she hasn’t visited yet since being assigned the leadership role.
