South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham called for a stand-alone vote for $2k stimulus checks.
Graham said on Fox and Friends “If you had a stand-alone vote on the $2,000 check, it might pass,.”
“The new Congress, you could get a vote,” Graham added, proposing a vote after January 3rd after noon “I’d like a stand-alone vote in the new Congress on the $2,000 check.”
However, Senate Majority leader has poured cold water on the idea and even mocked it.
“The Senate is not going to be bullied into rushing out more borrowed money into the hands of Democrats’ rich friends who don’t need the help,” McConnell said Wednesday.
McConnell has instead offered a measure tying in $2k checks with repealing Section 230 and creating a commission to examine the 2020 election.
McConnell’s proposal is a non-starter for Democrats and many consider it a “poison pill.”
