Both the FBI and the U.S. attorney’s office in Brooklyn, NY have launched investigations into how embattled NY Governor Andrew Cuomo and his task force handled nursing home data.
Per the Times Union “the probe by the U.S. attorney’s office in the Eastern District of New York is apparently in its early stages and is focusing on the work of some of the senior members of the governor’s task force, according to a person with direct knowledge of the matter who is not authorized to comment publicly.”
Cuomo has been blasted by both Democrats and Republicans over allegations that his office engaged in a cover up of the number of coronavirus-related deaths at nursing homes across the state.
Cuomo has remained defiant and gone on the attack against critics.
However this has backfired as some in his own party have chosen to go public.
Democratic Assemblyman Ron Kim appeared on CNN and claims Cuomo berated him in a phone call and said he “hadn’t seen his wrath and he can destroy me.”
One New York Democratic consultant said to “The Hill,” Cuomo “has instincts that are self-destructive. Much of the time he keeps them in check. This is not one of them.”
