Facebook has commented on the length and terms of former President Trump’s suspension from the social media platform.
Facebook said former president Donald Trump’s account will remain suspended for at least 2 years.
“Given the gravity of the circumstances that led to Mr. Trump’s suspension, we believe his actions constituted a severe violation of our rules which merit the highest penalty available under the new enforcement protocols,” Facebook said in their blog post.
Trump’s initial suspension date from Facebook is January 7, 2021, meaning Trump will remain suspended until at least January 2023.
At that time Trump will be eligible to possibly be reinstated pending an assessment as to whether “the risk to public safety has receded.”
