Democrats in the Texas legislature have killed a bill using a stalling tactic that required transgender athletes to compete on sports teams corresponding to their gender at birth as opposed to the gender they identify with.
Per The Hill “S.B. 29, had already passed the state Senate, but it died in the House after Democrats ran out the clock with amendments and questions. The measure failed to receive a vote by a midnight Tuesday “pass-or-die” deadline.”
“News of the stalled-to-death bill comes amid a flurry of transgender athlete legislation and other measures that have been proposed or passed across the U.S., largely in GOP-controlled states,” the report adds.
Simliar bans have taken place in Tennessee, Mississippi and Arkansas.
