Former DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz has endorsed Joe Biden.
Biden may or may not want to tout this endorsement given Wasserman Schultz’s controversial past.
Wasserman Schultz was largely blamed for the perception that the 2016 primary was being rigged for Hillary Clinton.
In this July 2016 video you can see her loudly booed and heckled.
SunSentinel reports Congresswoman Debbie Wasserman Schultz is endorsing Joe Biden for president.
She said he’s the Democrat best equipped to defeat President Donald Trump and effectively lead the country.
“It was a very easy decision,” she said in a telephone interview. “We need to make sure that we put the best candidate forward who can not only bring the nightmare of the last four years and the Trump presidency to an end, but make sure we elect a president who has a real track record of fighting for the values and the priorities of folks in Florida.”
The Broward/Miami-Dade County representative made her endorsement decision before Saturday’s Democratic presidential primary in South Carolina. She is announcing her decision Sunday, with just over two weeks before Florida’s March 17 primary.
Wasserman Schultz cited Biden’s record, which she said has consistently shown support for environmental issues important to Floridians, such as restoring the Everglades and preventing offshore oil drilling; worked to combat gun violence; strongly supporting Israel, and advancing Obamacare.
“Joe Biden was the quarterback with Congress” in securing passage of the Affordable Care Act, known as Obamacare, she said, “making sure that people like me who live with a pre-existing condition never have to worry about an insurance company dumping or denying us coverage ever again.”
