BREAKING: Biden taps Pete Buttigieg for transportation secretary

Joe Biden has nominated former 2020 rival Pete Buttigieg to be transportation secretary according to a new report from CNN.

Buttigieg, who is openly gay, if confirmed will be the first LGBTQ cabinet secretary.

According to CNN, other Democrats considered for this role were former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel, Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo.

Mike Bloomberg tweeted “Congrats to @PeteButtigieg, who knows from experience that smart transportation policy not only improves our quality of life, but also fights climate change and grows the economy. Mayors will benefit greatly from having a mayor’s perspective at @USDOT.”
