BREAKING: Amazon Kicks Parler off Its Web Hosting Service

Amazon has kicked social media company Parler off it’s web hosting service according to a new report from Buzzfeed.

This follows Parler being booted from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.

The latest move will make the network inoperable while not being hosted.

Parler CEO John Matze issued the following statement:

Rep. Ro Khanna wrote Friday “Parler is hosted by Amazon Web services (AWS). Amazon should deny Parler services until Jan 21 unless they commit to removing all posts related to incitement of violence concerning inauguration. This will help prevent further violence and save lives.”

One Twitter user replied “Is this something we really want? I understand that there is a public interest in limiting violent speech, such as “fire in a theatre”, but I feel we give tech companies a bit too much power. I invite a different take on this.”

Khanna responded “It’s a fair point. But under Brandenburg speech that incites imminent violence is illegal. So we should be able to get a court order to remove. But I see no problem with Amazon requiring Parler to remove such speech that isn’t even protected by the 1st Amendment.”
