BREAKING: 2020 Republican Challenger to Trump Calls It Quits

CBS reports former U.S. Rep. Joe Walsh has dropped out of the Republican race for president, he announced on Twitter Friday morning.

Walsh’s chances were slim, facing a president with the full backing of his party.

Walsh has been a longtime critic of the president.

“I’m suspending my campaign, but our fight against the Cult of Trump is just getting started. I’m committed to doing everything I can to defeat Trump and his enablers this November. I can’t do it alone. Join me at,” Walsh posted to Twitter.

Walsh explained his decision on New Day lamenting that he believes “[Trump] can’t be stopped within the Republican Party. Nobody can beat him. It’s Trump’s party… It’s not a party. It’s a cult.”

In what might have been a sign his bid would be doomed, as TCO reported, Walsh humiliated himself in front of an Iowa Republican caucus when he tried to disparage President Trump.

Joe Walsh said “I will be honest and I won’t lie. If you want 4 more years of the Donald Trump Show…” upon which rapturous applause took place…for Trump.

President Trump went on to win the Republican Iowa caucus in a massive landslide.

Per CNN, Trump received 6,998 votes compared to 101 for Bill Weld and 77 for Joe Walsh.
