BREAKING: 15 GOP Senators Co-Sponsor Resolution to Censure Schumer

15 GOP Senators, led by Josh Hawley have sponsored a resolution to censure Chuck Schumer.

The team of 15 are:

Josh Hawley (R-MO)
Sens. Steve Daines (R-MT)
Mike Braun (R-IN)
Rick Scott (R-FL)
Thom Tillis (R-NC)
Kelly Loeffler (R-GA)
Kevin Cramer (R-ND)
Ben Sasse (R-NE)
Joni Ernst (R-IA)
Mike Lee (R-UT)
Ted Cruz (R-TX)
David Perdue (R-GA)
Tim Scott (R-SC)
Jim Inhofe (R-OK)
Martha McSally (R-AZ)

The resolution includes a passage that says:

Senator Schumer has acknowledged that threatening statements can increase the dangers of violence against government officials when he stated on June 15, 2017, following the attempted murder of several elected Members of Congress, ‘We would all be wise to reflect on the importance of civility in our [N]ation’s politics’ and that ‘the level of nastiness, vitriol, and hate that has seeped into our politics must be excised.’

Hawley was not impressed with what he called a “non-apology” from Schumer, tweeting:

Schumer refusing to take responsibility. This non-apology is the equivalent of “I’m sorry you feel that way.” He threatened Justices. Personally. By name. He should be censured

Schumer had explained “I’m from Brooklyn. We speak in strong language. I shouldn’t have used the words I did, but in no way was I making a threat. I never—never—would do such a thing. And Leader McConnell knows that. And Republicans..manufacturing outrage over these comments know that too.”

Schumer did not apologize to either Justice Gorsuch or Justice Kavanaugh.
