BLM Activist Shaun King Claims “The State of Alabama just executed an innocent man”

Death row inmate Nathaniel Woods Jr. was executed by lethal injection for his role in the 2004 killing of 3 Alabama cops.

In a series of tweets, BLM activist and Bernie Sanders surrogate Shaun King called it “a modern day lynching” and claims “Alabama just executed an innocent man.”

And it is done.

The State of Alabama just executed an innocent man. Nate Woods is dead. We are crushed that Nate experienced this grizzly injustice and crushed for his family.

This is a modern day lynching. He broke no laws, at all. Never fired a gun. And surrendered.

In separate tweets, King wrote:

The family of Nate Woods is literally on the floor sobbing, uncontrollably.

Utter devastation.

He was a father, a grandfather, a brother, a son, a friend, a treasured loved one.

And he was just murdered by the State of Alabama for a crime he did not commit.

Spoke to people tonight who were literally vomiting.

The grizzly execution of Nate Woods made them sick. It overwhelmed them.

This is not justice. It’s not humane.

He was innocent, but it was just that.

It was the cold, harsh, unrelenting process that just broke them.

Earlier King wrote:

The State of Alabama began their process of murdering Nate Woods at 9:38 PM EST.

He was not officially pronounced dead until 10:01 PM.

23 cruel minutes.

It’s one of the most grizzly acts of injustice in modern American history.

He didn’t break a single law.

Governor Kay Ivey argued Woods’ conviction had been reviewed at least nine times and no court has ever found a reason to overturn the jury’s decision.

“Under Alabama law, someone who helps kill a police officer is just as guilty as the person who directly commits the crime,” said Ivey “Since 1983, Alabama has executed two individuals for being an accomplice to capital murder.”
