WATCH: Biden nominee says during hearing “I acknowledge that we are on the ancestral homelands of the Nacotchtank, Anacostan, and Piscataway people”

Biden nominee Rep. Deb Haaland (D-NM) suggested during her hearing that the U.S. Capitol was sitting on Native American land.

Haaland has been nominated for secretary of the Department of the Interior (DOI) and said in her opening statement “I wouldn’t be here without the love and support of my child Somah, partner Skip, my mom Mary Toya, my extended family, and generations of ancestors who sacrificed so much so I could be here today.”

She added “I acknowledge that we are on the ancestral homelands of the Nacotchtank, Anacostan, and Piscataway people.”

Sunday, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez responded angrily to a report that Sen. Joe Manchin is undecided on Deb Haaland’s nomination for Interior Secretary, having “remaining questions.”

AOC tweeted:

Jeff Sessions was so openly racist that even Reagan couldn’t appoint him.

Manchin voted to confirm him. Sessions then targeted immigrant children for wide-scale human rights abuses w/ family separation.

Yet the 1st Native woman to be Cabinet Sec is where Manchin finds unease?
