Moments ago, President Biden admitted his election overhaul bills that have been described as a federal takeover of elections may not even pass.
Biden has been touting the bills since his landmark “Build Back Better” plan was axed late last year.
After meeting with lawmakers Biden said “I don’t know whether we can get this done,” Biden said following a meeting with lawmakers on Capitol Hill.
A White House official said Biden would “discuss the urgent need to pass legislation to protect the constitutional right to vote and the integrity of our elections against un-American attacks based on the Big Lie” and “underline that doing so requires changing the rules of the Senate to make the institution work again.”
Biden faced backlash and criticism over his speech touting the bill that fellow Democrat Tulsi Gabbard called “divisive and disgusting.”
Hillary’s calling tens of millions of Americans deplorables was divisive & disgusting. But Biden has gone further, calling those who disagree with his actions & policies domestic enemies, traitors, and racists. Biden promised to unite us, but he is doing all he can do divide us. pic.twitter.com/1XKS9rfZQT
