Biden faces backlash from AOC after saying he won’t cancel $50k in student loan debt

President Biden is facing backlash from progressive Democrats after saying point blank he will not accept a proposal to cancel $50k in student debt during a CNN town hall.

Biden was asked what he thought of Senator Schumer and Warren’s proposal to cancel $50k in student debt per borrower and replied “I will not make that happen.”

Biden specifically said he does not want to forgive debt to those who attend elite ivy league schools like Harvard and Yale and go on to make high salaries and instead would want to help disadvantaged communities.

AOC tweeted:

1. Who cares what school someone went to? Entire generations of working class kids were encouraged to go into more debt under the guise of elitism. This is wrong.

2. Nowhere does it say we must trade-off early childhood education for student loan forgiveness. We can have both.

She added in a subsequent tweet:

The case against student loan forgiveness is looking shakier by the day.

We’ve got the *Senate Majority Leader* on board to forgive $50k. Biden’s holding back, but many of the arguments against it just don’t hold water on close inspection.

We can and should do it. Keep pushing!
