President Biden was asked about his reaction to leadership of the Catholic church voting “to advance the drafting of a document admonishing politicians and figures who support abortion rights like President Joe Biden and deny them from receiving communion.” The result of the vote was overwhelming with 168 in favor and only 55 against.
Per DailyMail “Supporters of the measure said a strong rebuke of Biden was needed because of his recent actions protecting and expanding abortion access, while opponents warned that such action would portray the bishops as a partisan force during a time of bitter political divisions across the country.”
Rather than give a direct answer, Biden replied “that’s a private matter and I don’t think that’s going to happen.”
Biden looked like a deer in the headlights just now as a reporter asked for his thoughts on U.S Catholic bishops taking steps toward possible rebuke of him due to his conflicting actions on abortion:
