Bette Midler admits she was wrong to mock Melania’s accent, says she won’t tweet tonight

After her a vicious series of tweets last night against First Lady Melania Trump, performer Bette Midler is walking it back.

Midler yesterday attacked Melania’s english, called her an “awful person” and falsely smeared her as an “illegal alien.”

Midler’s remarks were widely condemned both by conservatives and even some Democrats as well.

Today it seems Midler at least is admitting some of it was a mistake.

Midler tweeted “Well, all hell has broken loose because I said Melania “still can’t speak English” last night.”

She added “I was wrong to make fun of her accent. America is made up people who speak with all kinds of accents, and they are all welcomed always.”

Midler then warned her followers “You’ll have to survive the #RNC without me tonight. Sorry! Talk amongst yourselves.”

One Twitter user replied “Good, your comments on the First Ladies speech was un- called for… yes you apologized, but it was wrong and should have never been said!”
