Jay Jacobs, chairman of the NY state Democratic committee is warning AOC to not challenge Chuck Schumer’s Senate seat, arguing it would be bad for the party and she would lose.
Jacobs told the NY Post “I think it would be a primary driven by ambition more than by need.”
“Chuck Schumer has been a progressive force in the state for decades,” he continued “she has a constituency that admires her and supports her, and they’re in her community, and I think it would be a loss for them if she were to do that.”
Jacobs also predicted Schumer would defeat her if she did try to take his seat.
Jacobs said he has yet to meet the rising star of the Democrat party.
Jacobs acknowledged “we’ve never met. I would look forward to doing that. I am open to that at any time.”
AOC told Vanity Fair in October “I don’t know if I’m really going to be staying in the House forever,” leading to increased speculation as to her career trajectory.
