AOC Raised More Money than Any Other House Dem Q3 Including Schiff and Pelosi

Media sensation and freshman lawmaker Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez raised more money than any other House Democrat between July 1st and Sept 30th.

AOC raised $1.42 million
House Intel Chair Schiff raised $1.26 Million
House Speaker Pelosi raised $1.145 million

Brendan Quinn of the Center for Responsive Politics was impressed by the feat and called AOC “iconic” for her fundraising prowess.

An Axios report showed AOC having more Twitter power than any other Democrat or media outlet.

Per Newser, in March, a gaggle of 2020 presidential hopefuls descended on the South by Southwest festival in Austin over the weekend—but the political figure everybody wanted to see was Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.

The 29-year-old freshman lawmaker spoke to a massive ballroom that was “full to the brim” and she could have filled an even bigger venue, NBC reports.

NYPost reports US Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez raked in more money for her reelection campaign in the last fundraising quarter than any other House Democrat — including Speaker Nancy Pelosi, records show.

AOC, a Democratic socialist who reps parts of the Bronx and Queens, raised $1.42 million between July 1 through Sept. 30, followed by House impeachment czar and US Rep. Adam Schiff (D-Calif.), who netted $1.26 million, and House Speaker Pelosi (D-Calif.), who received $1.145 million.

The lion’s share of AOC’s donations, $1.1 million, were under $200.

Political observers told The Post it is unprecedented for a rookie representative in office for less than a year to out-raise powerful veteran leaders such as Pelosi and Schiff.

All three pols are up for reelection in 2020, with Ocasio-Cortez preparing for a Democratic primary in June from, among others, Bronx Councilman Fernando Cabrera.

“This is very rare, unique — I can’t recall anyone raising this much money during the first year in office,” political consultant George Arzt said.

“AOC is a celebrity who gained attention from people across the country, and many on the left support her.”

Brendan Quinn of the Center for Responsive Politics, which tracks fundraising, agreed that AOC’s fundraising juggernaut is unusual for a rookie.

He called it a testament to her popularity and tremendous name recognition, saying, “She’s become iconic.”
