Prior to Sunday’s relief deal being made, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) blasted Republicans and accused them of not doing enough to help people.
“Mitch McConnell is willing to let people starve,” AOC said. “He’s willing to let people get evicted. He’s willing to let states allow COVID cases to get out of control and for hospitals to be overrun. He is willing to do all of those things.”
Ocasio-Cortez said Democrats should push back on “this ‘both sides’ bulls*it.”
She continued “Ron Johnson just blocked $1,200 checks. We got to get out there and we need to say, Republicans have blocked $400 checks. Republicans have blocked retroactive benefits. Republicans are blocking teacher salaries, school funding, hospital funding, subway systems, mass transit – straight up.”
“There’s a window here,” she added “and, you know, I’ve heard murmurs that Mitch McConnell is actually sweating behind the scenes because he wants to protect Loeffler and Perdue. But it’s like, if he is actually sweating, then they need to cash in real checks.”
