Embattled freshman Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is rushing to defend her congressional freshman counterpart Rep. Ilhan Omar after she downplayed and disrespected the 9-11 attacks.
Yahoo News reported at a Council on American-Islamic Relations fundraiser in Woodland Hills, Calif., last month, Omar said the organization “was founded after 9/11 because they recognized that some people did something, and that all of us were starting to lose access to our civil liberties.” (CAIR was actually founded in 1994. According to the Washington Post, Omar’s spokesman said she misspoke and “meant to refer to the fact that the organization had doubled in size after the Sept. 11 attacks.”)
AOC was quick to jump in and defend Omar.
Breitbart reported that Ocasio-Cortez claimed Thursday that the New York Post cover calling out Rep. Ilhan Omar for referring to 9/11 as “some people did something” was an “incitement of violence.”
“This is–we are getting to the level where this is an incitement of violence, against progressive women of color,” Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said.
AOC is referring to the recent cover of their news magazine that addressed Omar’s comments.
