Saturday, in a tweet liked by fellow “squad” member Ayanna Pressley, Democrat lawmaker Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) ripped Israeli forces in a conflict with Palestians.
“We stand in solidarity with the Palestinian residents of Sheikh Jarrah in East Jerusalem,” AOC wrote. “Israeli forces are forcing families from their homes during Ramadan and inflicting violence.”
“It is inhumane and the US must show leadership in safeguarding the human rights of Palestinians,” she added.
Last month AOC spoke about the Israeli-Palestinian conflict in an appearance with Rabbi Michael Miller, executive director of the Jewish Community Relations Council of New York.
“What this really is about is that it’s a question more than anything else about process. We really need to make sure that we are valuing a process where all parties are respected, and have a lot of equal opportunity to really make sure that we are negotiating in good faith, AOC said.
“The value of human rights is really the path to peace here,” she continued.
“That’s a central thing that we need to make sure that we value the safety and the human rights of Israelis and we value the safety and human rights of Palestinians in that process that is similar on equal footing,” AOC added.
Two minutes of nothing by AOC trying to answer how to solve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Absolute drivel. pic.twitter.com/EN1YtFQrnR
