Anchor Fred Gerteiny fired after calling Senator Tim Scott “Uncle Tom”

Connecticut sportscaster Fred Gerteiny has been fired after calling Republican Senator Tim Scott “Uncle Tom.”

In a now deleted tweet, Gerteiny, who was verified on Twitter replied to an article from “The Hill” about Tim Scott saying Trump “misspoke.”

Gerteiny wrote “Thanks Uncle Tom.”

David Dudenhoefer wrote “Wow! Screenshots are forever @FredGerteiny! This is a disgrace.”

He added “You owe @SenatorTimScott an immediate apology!”

News 12 Connecticut confirmed Gerteiny has been fired due to his disgraceful attack on Scott.

In a statement, the news station wrote “after reviewing the incident, the network released sports reporter, Fred Gerteiny, as a result of a racially insensitive comment.”

They added “News 12 Networks has a zero tolerance policy for racism or improper conduct based on race, and prides itself on being an objective and unbiased multi-platform news company.”
