Comedian and actress Amy Schumer, the daughter of Senator Chuck Schumer, shared a manipulated “Deepfake” video of Korean leader Kim Jong-Un in order to try to make a point.
In the video, Kim Jong-Un is digitally manipulated to appear to be speaking English. He says “Democracy is a fragile thing. More fragile than you want to believe. If the election fails there is no democracy. I don’t have to do anything. You’re doing it to yourselves. People are divided. Your voting districts are manipulated. Voting locations are closing so millions can’t vote. It’s not hard for democracy to collapse. All you have to do is nothing.”
Amy Schumer did not mention the video was fake in her tweet, though the video does have a disclaimer at the very end that says “This video is not real, but the threat is.”
