NEW POLL: Americans See “Fake News” as One of the Country’s Biggest Problems

An alarming new study finds “Fake News” as one of the greatest threats to the country.

Pew Research Center conducted a study that shows 50 percent of the Americans surveyed believe that fake news is a “very big problem.” reported that Sean Hannity blasted the “abusively biased, corrupt, agenda-driven press” for continuing to attack President Donald Trump.

The Fox News host unloaded a scathing commentary on the “phony news industry” during his monologue on “Hannity” Wednesday, citing a new poll which revealed that Americans are now more worried about “fake news” than climate change, racism, terrorism, or sexism.

A new study from the Pew Research Center indicated that 50 percent of those surveyed believe fake news is a “very big problem” in the United States, while 46 percent felt the same way about climate change and 34 percent named terrorism as a “very big problem.”

According to the report:

Additionally, nearly seven-in-ten U.S. adults (68%) say made-up news and information greatly impacts Americans’ confidence in government institutions, and roughly half (54%) say it is having a major impact on our confidence in each other.

U.S. adults blame political leaders and activists far more than journalists for the creation of made-up news intended to mislead the public. But they believe it is primarily the responsibility of journalists to fix the problem. And they think the issue will get worse in the foreseeable future.

“This is a major political victory for President Trump,” Hannity declared Wednesday, citing the president’s success in “branding” the media which is “actively working as an extension of the Democratic Party all while pretending to be journalists.”

Hannity suggested the name will forever stick and the “fake news” organizations will probably never recover.

“While Americans are now aware of the threat that’s posed by fake information, by lies, conspiracy theories, you still have the rage-filled, Trump-hating media mob that are never going to slow down,” he said. “You think they’ll admit they’re wrong, make corrections, try to listen adapt and try to listen to the people they are supposed to serve? Don’t count on it.”
